Project Overview

In early 2020, I was responsible for maintaining and iterating on a core Python wallet library. Acting as an SDK, the library wraps the low-level interfaces for interacting with the WaykiChain (WICC) blockchain, giving Python developers a convenient tool for secondary development. My main work included fixing bugs, improving the documentation, and publishing the package to the Python Package Index (PyPI) for external developers to use.

Tech Stack

  • Programming language: Python

Key Contributions

1. Bug Fixes and Feature Improvements

I carried out intensive bug fixing on the wallet library, resolving multiple issues including an asset issuance API malfunction, a CDP (collateralized debt position) malfunction, and a list-handling bug, ensuring the library’s stability and correctness.

2. Documentation

Recognizing how important documentation is for an open-source library, I took the initiative to update and improve the project documentation, lowering the barrier to entry for external developers.

3. Release Management

I successfully packaged and published versions 1.0.0 and 2.0.0 of the library to the official PyPI repository (https://pypi.org/project/wicc/), completing the full loop from development to delivery and making the library available to a much wider community.

Project Summary

Through this project I not only sharpened my Python programming and problem-solving skills — more importantly, I went through the entire process of standardizing, documenting, and publicly releasing a software product. That was highly valuable for developing an engineering mindset and product sense. This project was also one of the important pieces of wrap-up work I delivered for the WaykiTimes-related business before my 2020 handover.
